Suicide is the main cause of death of all young people under the age of 35. The latest annual statistics reveal over 1,600 young people between the ages of 10 and 35 died as a result of suicide, over 200 were schoolchildren and 85 were graduates.
Ged Flynn, Chief Executive of PAPYRUS commented: “It is great that the IPC, an organisation that the public would not normally associate with young peoples' mental health, is being so proactive in its support of our work with young people.”
PAPYRUS believes that many suicides are preventable. The charity provides practical advice, support to young people and others concerned that a young person may be at risk of taking their own life.
